vol.29 キドリハ通信～欲しがりません立つまでは第 3 章オーストラリア篇～

こんばんは。キドです。

今日も１つビッグニュースがあります。
実は、今週歩行アシスト用ロボット ”HAL” を試す機会がありました！

HAL の紹介をする前に、自分のコトを少し話します。

僕が筑波大蹴球部 ( サッカー部 ) で四年生の時、現川崎フロンターレ監督の風間八宏さんが監督に就任されました。

風間さん就任 1 年目で注目されていましたし、僕は副主将で、学生最後の年というコトもあり、

トップチームに定着してプレーでチームに貢献したい気持ちが強くありました。

しかし、シーズン開始前の強化期間に足を骨折…

その後、4 ヶ月後に復帰を果たすも、 2軍での練習中に再度同じ箇所の骨を折り、自身のプレーヤーとしての大学サッカー人生を終えました。

その後チームは 5 年ぶりのインカレ決勝に進みましたが、僕は全精力を「応援」に捧げてました。

社会人になって、「筑波でサッカーしてました」と話す度に、「トップチームで公式戦に出たことない副主将でした！」って自己紹介するのが定番でした。苦笑
「もしケガしてかなかったらな…。」卒業してもなおそう思うコトも結構ありましたが、でも俺は結局そーゆーサッカー人生やったんや。

そういう結論に至っていました。

それが、こんなカタチで自分に縁をくれるとはその時は思ってもみませんでした…。

さて、話を戻しますが、HAL とは、運動する際に脳から筋肉に伝わる神経伝達の電気信号を読み取り、運動をサポートする歩行アシストロボットです。

さらに、自分の脳から出た意思によって歩くことで、歩行の動きが脳にフィードバックされて「歩く」感覚を少しずつ学習していくことも期待されています。

以前歩行訓練をしていた ReWalk( リウォーク) の場合は、 100% ロボットの力で歩行をするので、自身の神経伝達回路は関係ありませんが、

HAL は自力歩行とロボット歩行の間のようなイメージです。さらに、 HAL は筑波大学から生まれたロボットであり、

2016 年から一部の神経・筋難病疾患に対する医療保険の適用が認められています。 ( 脊髄損傷者には適用されていません。 )

筑波生まれということで縁も感じていたので、以前から試してみたいとは思っていましたが、なかなか繋がるコトができずにいましたが、

この 1 ヶ月限定の日本滞在期間に試せる機会を得ました。

その機会をつくっていただいたのが、実は大学4 年で骨折した時の足の手術をしてくれた先生方でした。

その先生が、クラウドファンディングのニュースを見てくれていて、直接連絡をくださったんです。

そして、帰国直後にお会いした後、精力的に動いていただき筑波大学病院の先生方を紹介していただきました。そして今週、 HAL を試すコトができました。

HAL を使ってトレーニングをするのに十分な電気信号が流れているコトが確認されたので、オーストラリアから帰国後、

筑波で HAL を使用したリハビリができることになりました！！

HAL はまだ開発中の内容もあり、今は写真や動画は配信できませんが、また体の進捗を配信していきます。

自分が大学までサッカーを続けていたこと、
浪人して筑波に行ったこと、
そしてケガをしたことさえも、
その後の自分の人生に素敵な縁をプレゼントしてくれるなんて、 8 年前の僕には分かるはずもありませんでした。

そのためにも、今日からもまた、とにかく毎日を懸命に生きるべし。行ってきます。

How are you?

I also have a big news today. I got a chance to use the “HAL”. That’s so great!

I will talk about me before l introduce HAL to you.

This is the story when I was playing football at Tsukuba University.

When I was 4th grade, Mr. Yahiro Kazama came to Tsukuba University as the director.

Now he is the director of Kawasaki Frontale that is a Japanese professional football team.

He was already very famous in Japan as sports commentator at that time.

That’s why our team was paid a lot of attention by media. I thought strongly that I would like to contribute a lot to the team as a vice captain.

Though I was playing with so highly motivation, I broke my leg before season would start.
Since I broke my leg of the same part after 3 months, I had to give me up playing football anymore at university.
After I graduated from college, I often introduced by myself with laughing about that I was a vice captain who didn’t compete in any official games.

If I had not broken my leg, I might competein the official games…

I often thought so even after my graduation. But I finally thought about that I had no skill to have experience of competing the games.

I had no idea at that time how my injuredexperience give me a big chance…

Story changes, but “HAL” is the robot to walk that can get the electricity signal from our brains and support our body to move.
And so our brains try to learn how to walk while walking supported by HAL, because our brain can get a feed back information from HAL about walking.

On the other hand, “ReWalk” that I used for walking training before I went to Australia is moving by itself without human will. HAL is very different from ReWalk about walking.

Furthermore HAL was invented by Tsukuba University, and it has been medical insurance coverage in Japan since 2016.

I felt the familiar with HAL because HAL and I are linked with “Tsukuba”. That’ why I have wanted to try to use it one time since I knew it.

Suddenly, I got a chance to do it while staying in Japan.

A doctor gave me a chance to do it.
In fact, He gave me the surgery to cure mybroken leg when I was at university. It’s like miracle!!

He found my project of Cloud Funding on the internet.

After I met him in last month, he introduced me to the doctor of Tsukuba University Hospital.

So I got a chance to use the HAL, and then I’m going to do rehabilitation with HAL at Tsukuba since I come back from Australia.

Though I can’t show you the movies and pictures took with HAL, because HAL is in development now.
